• Strange. The other “If We Picked the Winner” shows from this period fit into an hour time slot, but this one is too short for even the 30 minute slot. Sure, the commercials have been edited out, but apparently some of the awards were edited out too?

• This is definitely not a complete episode. The Museum of Broadcast Communications has it on file and says it’s a one-hour program.

• This has now been upgraded to the full episode.

• The worst Oscar nods according to Siskel and Ebert both starred Robin Williams.

• My pick for Best Actor that year would have also been Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs

  My pick for Best Supporting Actress that year would have been Juliette Lewis in Cape Fear

  My pick for Best Actress that year would have been Jodie Foster for Silence of the Lambs

  My pick for Best Song would have been Belle from Beauty and the Beast

  My pick for Best Supporting Actor would have been Tommy Lee Jones that year for JFK

  My pick for Best Picture that year would have been Silence of the Lambs
