I don’t think Rob Schneider would react well to this review of Deuce Bigalow. 6 years after the movie came out, Los Angeles Times film critic Patrick Goldstien criticized the film in his Oscar report and Schneider got butthurt. This idiot actually took out a full page ad in multiple publications, suggesting that Goldstein shouldn’t be qualified to comment on his movies, since he never won a Pulitzer Prize or any other journalistic award because “they haven’t invented a category for Best Thrid-Rate, Unfunny Pompous Reporter Who’s Never Been Acknowledged by His Peers.”
In his review of the sequel, Roger Ebert (who disliked both movies and I don’t blame him) defended Goldstein and pointed out that he actually won several awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Publicist Guild. Although Schneider was correct that Goldstein is not a Pulitzer-Prize winner, Mr Ebert himself is the first film critic to achieve this honor. He ended his review with one of the greatest put downs in the history of film criticism, “Speaking in my official complicity as a Pulitzer Prize winner, Mr Schneider, your movie sucks.”
