Gene Siskel: Star Wars is so successful and so mindless fun, that I hope Hollywood doesn’t forget that there are people who want to see some serious pictures too.
Well ladies and gentlemen, you just have to wait until nearly 45 years for this to actually happen.
I’ve been hearing rumors that Roger gave Star Wars a bad review, but later changed his mind after it had became popular. Well, I have read Roger’s 1977 review in multiple sources and it didn’t even look, sounded, or even felt like a re-review at all. He seems to have loved it from day one, calling it an out of body experience. He praised the special effects and “pure narrative.”
