In an article Ebert wrote titled “Upon further review …” dated January 25, 1996 that is still on his web site, Ebert said that he watched Sense and Sensibility a second time and would consider raising his star rating on it from 2.5 to 3 but not changing any of the text in his review. So that would also mean changing from thumbs down to thumbs up. That year, Sense and Sensibility and Apollo 13 were nominated for Best Picture but not Best Director (those slots went to Dead Man Walking and Leaving Las Vegas). Braveheart won in both categories.
