Sadly, A Little Princess was not successful at the box office. Parents took their kids to see stuff like Pocahontas, Batman Forever, and Power Rangers instead.
You’re forgetting Babe which was a big hit with both adults and children that summer and Casper was another movie parents took their children to see.
The reason why I didn’t mention Babe is because it was praised by critics when it came out. But I should have mentioned Casper among other family films from the summer of 1995 that were panned by critics (that would leave Siskel and Ebert in a minority of those who liked the movie).
