Nice to see them give great recognition to John Hughes’ breakthrough teen film and actually lead off the show with it. Siskel actually rated Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club each a half star higher in his print reviews than Ebert did. After that, it became split decisions on the 1980s Hughes teen films with Siskel thumbs down on Ferris Bueller and Weird Science as well as the Howard Deutch-directed Pretty in Pink. (We don’t have the episode with Some Kind of Wonderful and another critic reviewed it in print for the Tribune, not Siskel.)
