Sounds like they tried the “Superman” approach to the Lone Ranger and failed miserably. The origin story of Superman was far more interesting and not as long. And Richard Donner did a really meticulous job in casting with those screen tests. And the adventure was rousing and Lex Luthor was a great villain. Don’t know where they found or how they casted Clinton Spilsbury, but nobody remembers his name. Not a good way to replace Clayton Moore. A major miscalculation from start to finish.
