Wow, 1980. I’ll give both Gene and Roger credit they can’t agree on Flash Gordon or Stir Crazy but they’re both right in each case. This shows they were at least paying attention to these movies, I wonder if they had to watch movies like this more than once to really come to the conclusions they came up with?
Ebert selected Piranha and Alligator as dogs of the week but both have a positive Tomatometer score and are considered some degree of cult classics now. These two along with The Howling, which Ebert also disliked, are all early scripts by John Sayles.

A pretty obnoxious episode whereas they recommend Popeye and Roger placed Alligator as his Dog of the Week.

I have seen Alligator and it was laughable in a few bad ways. I wish the feel wasn’t so dreary and this film would be a lot more fun.
