When I saw The Hitcher in the theater in 1986, I was entirely enthralled and on the edge of my seat. It was so well done. While I hated the scene when he rips her in half (and still do even more so now), I thought it was an amazing effective film. I was mad at S&K for trashing it. The funny thing is, its such dated criticism. I mean what would they think of all the modern torture porn like Saw and Hostel? This was nothing compared to that.
With Pretty in Pink, two thoughts:
1. Now it would be from the laptop of John Hughes, if he was still around.
2. Andie is the anti-Claire from Breakfast Club.

You mean S&E. Anyway, I don’t think I want to see a film where they show a body getting ripped in half like that.
