Dick Tracy never really did it for me, though I agree the production design and visual style was excellent.
Another 48 Hrs. is probably one of the most apt and descriptive movie titles ever, as it is just that…. another 48 Hrs. Only Nolte is a bit leaner, Murphy a bit more chunky and…. well, that’s about it. I like the biker badguys, but otherwise I think it was a wasted opportunity for a great return of these two beloved characters.
Dick Tracy wasn’t a bad movie but they were trying really hard to make it that year’s “Batman.” Dick Tracy was too cartoon like to be the next “Batman.” The reason Batman was so popular was because it was dark and gritty. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the movie that really won over the kids in 1990.
