Good call from both Gene and Roger about Disney’s output of work before Tron. Shortly after Walt’s death in 1966, Disney was completely out of touch with what audiences really wanted (I even just watched Pete’s Dragon on Disney+, which is a perfect example). Tron however, despite it’s thin plot, has a lot more imagination than the crappy, playing-it-safe Disney films from the 1970’s. John Lasseter has said it best, without Tron, there would be no Toy Story (and Pixar in general).
