  • I actually like their 1992 review and Roger Ebert’s Great Movies essay better than this 1978 review of Pinocchio. Although the animation is groundbreaking and the songs were memorable, it was hardly those factors that made Pinocchio an enduring classic. It’s real strength is it’s great story about redemption, and that’s what they didn’t address.

    • Pinocchio was a great film, an animated classic for Disney. The animation at least back then was as good as it got but what did it for me would have to be the overall story. The message of the story being that dreams really can come true but also like you said, redemption which I can agree with.

      • That’s exactly my point! You can find their 1992 review on this site and Roger Ebert’s brilliant Great Movies essay either online or in his books.

  • I’d love to know why they remade Invasion of the Body Snatchers myself. The original was fine enough, with a better ending than what is here. Didn’t anyone complain about this? And of course, they remade the damn thing two more times, like this wasn’t enough.
